This boutique hotel in Cochecton, New York, centers its double-height lobby on an open staircase and a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the surrounding trees. The design called for two distinct lighting moments: one dramatic sculptural fixture for the stairwell, and a softer, more intimate glow at the reception desk.

Cascading beside the staircase is a modern chandelier made up of dozens of reflective silver glass spheres in varying sizes, suspended at different heights to form a flowing, organic column of light that spans both levels of the lobby. The fixture is in the spirit of our Modern LED Bubble Staircase Chandelier, whose cascading glass spheres can be configured to the exact height and spread of a stairwell like this one. Guests see it first from the entrance and again from the upper landing, where the spheres catch the daylight pouring through the glass wall.

The chandelier's cascading spheres read as a single continuous gesture from any angle in the lobby, giving the staircase a clear architectural focal point without competing with the room's warm wood paneling and stone flooring.

Near the entrance, the reception desk pairs dark stone with warm LED underlighting. Three dome-shaped alabaster pendants hang low over the counter, echoing our Lunara Alabaster Pendant Light, whose natural stone shade and brass body deliver the same soft, diffused glow. Their light softens the room's palette and draws attention to the check-in area without competing with the sculptural chandelier nearby.
