Two-Story Entryway, Florida, USA
A straight staircase with a white painted railing, beige walls, light oak floors and a tall window above the front door that fills the space with daylight. It is the kind of entrance many of our clients have, and one of the hardest spaces to light well.
With almost 18 feet from floor to ceiling, an ordinary flush mount simply disappears. The space needs a fixture with real vertical presence, one that can be seen from the front door, from the staircase and from the upstairs landing. A long tiered crystal chandelier hung in the center of the stairwell solves this, carrying light down through the full height of the room.
The black and gold rings of the Art Deco chandelier tie in with the dark front door and the black door hardware, while the crystal rods catch the daylight from the upper window. In the evening, with the other lights off, the chandelier alone gives the hallway and the staircase a soft, warm glow.
The result is an entrance that feels special every time you come home, without turning a family hallway into a hotel lobby.
