Bathrooms are divided into zones by distance from water. Inside the tub or shower enclosure (Zone 1), use a fixture rated at least IP65, which withstands direct jets; anything submersible in a tub surround needs IP67. Within 60 cm (about 24 inches) of the bath or shower (Zone 2), IP44 is the minimum, protecting against splashing from any direction. Beyond that, a standard fixture is acceptable, though IP44 remains a sensible choice near a basin. Each product lists its IP rating on the specification tab.
