Match the top of the nightstand to the top of your mattress, within about 2 inches either way. Measure from the floor to the mattress surface rather than to the bed frame, since bedding adds height. Standard beds put that figure at 24 to 25 inches, so most nightstands fall between 24 and 28 inches tall. Low platform and Japandi-style beds sit lower, around 18 to 22 inches, and need a correspondingly shorter table. A surface level with the mattress keeps a glass, phone or book within easy reach without you having to sit up.
Scale the nightstand to the bed. Beside a queen bed, 18 to 24 inches wide looks balanced; a king bed carries 24 to 30 inches comfortably. A single or twin bed suits 16 to 20 inches. Leave a gap of 2 to 4 inches between the nightstand and the bed frame so bedding hangs freely and the two pieces read as separate. If the nightstand carries a table lamp, allow at least 12 inches of clear surface depth so the lamp base is not pushed to the edge.
Selected smart models do. They integrate a 10W Qi wireless charging pad into the top surface, along with USB-A and USB-C ports on the side panel and, on some designs, a low-level LED strip under the top edge for night-time orientation. The charging pad works through cases up to about 4 mm thick. Check the specification tab of each product to confirm which features it carries, as the majority of the collection is designed as classic furniture without integrated electronics.
The collection uses solid ash, oak and walnut, natural marble and sintered stone tops, brushed stainless steel and brass frames, and tempered glass. Solid wood needs only a dry or barely damp cloth and should be kept out of direct sun to avoid uneven fading. Marble is porous — blot spills at once and avoid vinegar, citrus or other acidic cleaners, which etch the surface permanently. Metal frames and glass clean with any non-abrasive household cleaner on a soft cloth.
