Washing a crystal chandelier from dust is not an easy task. The lamp is the main element of the interior that illuminates the home. When pollution occurs, the light becomes dim and has a negative effect on the eyes.
Step-by-step instruction:
- Turn off the power before you begin dust removal with a commercially available spray.
- Make sure that the lamp is at eye level. To do this, use a ladder. If she was not found in the house, ask someone to be nearby and insure you.
- Lay an oilcloth or a few newspapers on the floor. They will protect the carpet from drops that will flow down after processing the lamp.
- Apply the product on all sides of the chandelier and leave for 10 minutes. This time will be enough to dissolve hardened dust and other dirt.
- At the end of the procedure, remove the newspapers or oilcloth, and leave the clean chandelier to dry for several hours.
Instead of using a purchased product, you can take an aqueous solution of ammonia. It should be applied with a spray gun, and then it is required to process each detail with a cloth, whether it be crystal or a metal element of a chandelier. At the end of the procedure, wipe everything dry, and after a few hours feel free to turn on the light.
Useful life hacks (do's and don'ts):
- If the lamp has a very complex design and an abundance of parts, pendants, but it needs to be removed, first take a picture of it so that there are no difficulties during assembly later.
- Before washing, do not forget to de-energize the device.
- After you finish, do not turn it on until all the elements are definitely dry.
- Light bulbs and small parts are easy to hold with rubber gloves so they don't slip out. And dry cleaning should be done with cotton gloves - so you will not leave fingerprints on the chandelier.
- Place something soft under the lamp so that the parts that slip out do not break.
- The water temperature should not be higher than 27 degrees, otherwise the crystal may darken.
- If you removed the shades and pendants to wash in the basin, then it should only be plastic, not metal, so that the parts do not break. Even at the bottom of the plastic container, put something soft - cloth or foam rubber.
- Do not use abrasive products, washing powder, chlorine-containing compounds, soda (they scratch), soap solution (it leaves stains, you will have to wash them several times).
