Private house, Hamel MN

This private residence in Hamel, Minnesota, has a two-story living room built around a wall of windows and a linear gas fireplace. The volume called for a single fixture large enough to anchor the space from floor to ceiling without feeling heavy overhead.

Cascading from the double-height ceiling is a cluster of frosted glass pendants at staggered heights, each shade catching the light differently as it falls toward the seating area below. The fixture is in the spirit of our Liora Cascade Glass Chandelier, whose 19-light configuration can be arranged in the same loose, organic drop. From the sofa, the piece reads as a single sculptural gesture; from the mezzanine above, the staggered heights reveal the layered structure of individual shades.
