Bathroom shower columns with a mixer and an overhead shower appeared on the market relatively recently and allowed domestic consumers to feel a completely new level of comfort. The system allows you to quic kly adjust the position of the shower, choose one of several jet modes.

Features of shower columns

It is known that demand generates supply, and increased demand generates a variety of offers. The main features of these shower columns are shown in the table below:

  • Column equipped with a thermostatic control device, overhead shower, mixer

A thermostatic device-regulator in bathroom wall systems that allows you to monitor the temperature of the water jet is a device that is convenient for operating the shower and helps you comfortably take a shower, protect yourself from burns, ice water.

  • Shower column with a standard shower, equipped with a mixer

Usually equipped with two watering cans - on top - stationary, and also movable - with a flexible hose. Water is supplied to it from the mixer. It is the most widely used system.

  • Shower column with a "rain shower" with a mixer

This rack has recently become increasingly popular. It is equipped with a headset (panel) that forms a stream of water in the form of rain. The style and comfort of showering are the hallmarks of this system.

The first system is usually equipped with a pair of watering cans - stationary and movable on a flexible hose. With the help of a movable one, you can adjust the direction of the water jet to any place of the washed body and even take a shower in a sitting position. The design of the watering can block at the top allows you to change nozzles to give the jet the desired strength. It provides a forceful, massaging, or weak, gentle, relaxing flow of water.

The second system has a watering can, designed as a panel, which brings down a shower of water on the user (hence the name “rain shower” comes from). Under this shower, there is no need to expose individual parts of the body under the stream. The headset can be given any shape of your choice (rectangle, square, circle).

How to choose a shower column

  1. Choose the method of installation and fastening

According to the installation method, open shower head columns and shower systems built into the wall are distinguished.

An open shower column head is attached to the wall: all its nodes and elements remain in sight. To install such a model, you just need to make holes for fasteners in the wall. Therefore, an open rack can be placed in a finished room instead of an old shower: you don’t have to disassemble the tiles on the wall and repair the room.

The built-in shower column is partially mounted in the wall: the hose and mixer are hidden behind the tiles. Both watering cans, a hand shower hose and control levers remain outside. Such a system can only be installed at the stage of bathroom renovation: when the cladding is not yet ready, since holes for the faucet and pipe wiring will have to be drilled in the wall.

  1. Decide on the configuration of the shower column

The basic equipment of an open shower column is a bar, on which an upper and a hand shower with a holder are fixed, and most often a built-in mixer. The kit may also include a thermostat and spout.

A built-in shower system consists of: a head shower, a hand shower with a hose, a faucet and sometimes a thermostat.

  • Showerhead. On some shower racks, the height of the top showerhead is also adjustable. This is convenient if people of different heights use it. Everyone can customize the shower for themselves.
  • Hand shower. With a hand watering can, you can take a shower without getting your head wet. And with the help of it it is easier to take care of the bathroom, shower enclosure or cabin. The watering can is attached to the bar with a holder, with the help of which its position can be adjusted in height and angle of inclination. This is convenient if there are small children in the family: it is easy to adjust the watering can to the height of the child and bathe him.
  • Mixer. The shower column can be with or without a built-in faucet. Models without a mixer are usually cheaper. Shower column without faucet. A convenient option if a faucet is already installed in the bathroom. The advantage is that in the event of a breakdown, replacing a separate mixer will be easier and cheaper than a built-in one. A shower column with a built-in faucet looks more elegant, as it is connected directly to the faucet, without additional hoses.

Advantages of shower columns

  1. The shower column with shower head is easy to operate, which largely explains its popularity among users. Most designs make it possible to fix the watering can with the expectation of both an adult and a child. You can buy shower column which provides for the possibility of moving the watering can in a horizontal direction. Shower models are usually supplied complete with special hooks for textiles, shelves for shower accessories, cups for shaving accessories, and a thermostat (if included) to control the temperature.
  2. The shower column is easy to install. The rack can be mounted on the wall by any user who has the simplest skills of drilling holes for dowels and then driving screws into them.
  3. The design of columns with an overhead shower is also diverse and is designed for the interior of any shower wallboard and every taste. Here it is worth mentioning another version of modern shower systems with a mixer and an overhead shower - a hidden shower column.
